Minister of Defence and Military Production Mohamed Zaki discussed enhancing military cooperation between the Egyptian Armed Forces and the European Defence Council during a Sunday meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence General Secretariat, is part of Borrell and his delegation’s official visit to Egypt, according to a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces' Spokesman.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed several topics of mutual interest in light of current regional and international developments. They also discussed the impact of these developments on security and stability in the Middle East, according to the statement.
Zaki emphasized that he takes pride in the friendly relations between the Egyptian Armed Forces and the European Defense Council in various fields, expressing his keenness to coordinate efforts and increase prospects for future joint military cooperation, the statement continued.
For his part, Borrell praised Egypt's influential and active role in establishing security and stability in its regional and international environment and the Middle East.
He also praised Egypt's wise stance on various issues of interest, added the statement.
