Egypt is keen to strengthen military with Iraq, Egyptian Minister of Defence Mohamed Zaki asserted to his Iraqi counterpart Thabet Al-Abbassi in a meeting in Cairo on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Armed Forces Spokesperson Gharib Abdel-Hafez Gharib, Minister Zaki affirmed to Al-Abbassi his appreciation for the relations that bind the two countries’ armed forces.
The two ministers also discussed current regional and international developments and their impacts on security and stability.
For his part, Minister Al-Abbassi expressed his appreciation for Egypt's efforts and support for Iraq in the regional and international community, affirming his keenness for increased cooperation between their two countries, added the spokesperson.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Osama Askar, a number of commanders of the armed forces of both countries, Iraqi ambassador Ahmed El-Dulaimi as well as the military attaché of Iraq in Cairo.
