Cairo, Egypt, 4th June 2018: Following immense support from the Egyptian Armed Forces, the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) 2018 has received extremely high demand from international and local exhibitors to promote their business to the Egyptian and international markets. EDEX 2018 is the first defence exhibition in Egypt, set to launch on the 3rd to 5th December 2018 – at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre, the brand new exhibition and conference venue in New Cairo.

The exhibition will feature more than 300 exhibitors from more than 7 international pavilions; including USA, China, UAE, Russia, Germany, France, and Italy showcasing military hardware and solutions. Additionally, the event will host many prestigious local manufacturers; including the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production, Alexandria Shipyard Company, the Arab Organization for Industrialization and Arab International Optronics.

EDEX 2018 is fully supported by the Egyptian Armed Forces and presents a brand new opportunity for Egyptian exhibitors to display their latest military technology, equipment, and systems across land, sea, and air. EDEX is intended to become a biennial exhibition and conference that attracts and supports business tourism in the country, placing Egypt as a primary destination in the region for international exhibitions.

H.E General Mohamed El Assar, Minister of Military Production, stressed the importance of holding the event in Egypt, as it contributes to its reputation as a strong and leading country, capable of holding prestigious and respected exhibitions in the military sector. “Over the past few years, Egypt has become a key influential country in the region with respect to military capabilities. We are expecting to form new long-term partnerships with international manufacturers and to form unique joint ventures. We strongly believe that hosting EDEX 2018 is an opportunity for the country to become a crucial platform for the exchange of military technical expertise between us and all the participating countries. We are looking forward to showcasing local capabilities of Egyptian manufacturers at the exhibition to represent the country’s capabilities.”

A sales and marketing campaign has been led internationally by organizers of the event, Clarion Events, who have visited international defence and security exhibitions in the UK, UAE, India, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Jordan to promote the event, alongside Egyptian Armed Forces delegations. With this in mind, the attendees are expected to arrive from various continents, which provides a healthy opportunity for Egyptian companies to promote their products in the exhibition.

Thomas Gaunt, Event Director of EDEX 2018, stated, “We firmly believe Egypt is the best place to run a first-class event such as EDEX and we have huge confidence that EDEX will become one of the leading events in the defence and security calendar. He added, “The demand for exhibitor space has been fantastic, especially from the Egyptian market. We are hoping to speak with more Egyptian companies in the coming months.”

Dassault Aviation has recently been announced as Platinum Sponsor for the event. They join MBDA (Gold), Orascom Construction (Gold), GE (Silver), Alkan CIT (Bronze), Al Tadrea Manufacturing Company (Bronze) and AM General (Bronze) in the increasing number of exhibitors and sponsors at EDEX 2018. It is expected that exhibitor acquisitions will significantly grow in the coming months and that the show will fill four halls at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre come 3rd -5th December 2018.
