Egypt’s defence minister, US CENTCOM commander discuss regional security
During the meeting in Cairo, Zaki and Kurilla also discussed boosting military cooperation between Egypt and the United States.
Minister Zaki praised the long-standing partnership between the two countries’ armed forces, saying he looks forward to furthering cooperation.
The US CENTCOM chief praised the pivotal role played by Egypt in maintaining security, stability, and balance in the region, highlighting the depth of bilateral strategic relations.
Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces Lt. General Osama Askar also met earlier with the US commander and his accompanying delegation.
Talks between the two sides were attended by top military brass and the acting US ambassador in Cairo.
General Kurilla met President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi also on Monday during Kurilla’s visit to Cairo, which is the first stop in his first regional tour to the Middle East after assuming his new position.
