Egypt’s defense minister stresses keenness to expand military cooperation with S. Korea
In a meeting with his South Korean counterpart, Suh Wook, in Cairo, Zaki voiced Egypt’s appreciation of the firm relations with South Korea, a statement by the Egyptian military spokesman read.
Wook expressed aspiration that the future stage will witness further cooperation in a way that meets the joint interests of both sides.
The South Korean minister of national defense affirmed deep appreciation of the Egyptian armed forces’ efforts in all fields.
Wook stressed South Korea’s support to the military cooperation horizons with Egypt during the coming period.
The meeting discussed latest developments on the regional and international levels, the statement read.
During the meeting, issues of mutual concern were also discussed, including the military cooperation fields as well as the transference and exchange of expertise between Egypt and South Korea, the statement added.
Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Mohamed Farid and a number of army commanders of both countries attended the meeting.
Meeting with Sisi
Wook also met on Tuesday with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
During the meeting, Sisi praised modern and integrated infrastructure in Egypt, which he said provides a strong basis for boosting development cooperation with international partners.
The president voiced Egypt's keenness on promoting relations with South Korea, especially in the military and defense fields, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Egypt also looks forward to activating the comprehensive cooperative partnership with South Korea in a way that helps benefit from the huge capabilities of the two countries, Sisi added.
Suh, for his part, praised the great national projects being established in Egypt under the leadership of President Sisi.
He also valued the role played by Egypt to contain tensions between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
According to the spokesman, the meeting also reviewed military and security cooperation between the two countries, especially in the industrial and technological domains.
Meeting with military production minister
Wook affirmed on Tuesday that the bilateral relations with Egypt have progressed over the past years at all levels as he met with Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Ahmed Morsi in Cairo.
Wook said there is a mutual understanding between the two sides regarding the need to boost bilateral relations in the various industrial and economic fields.
This comes especially as the two countries enjoy big economic capabilities, Wook said, affirming hope that this meeting plays an important role in opening new horizons for investment and cooperation between Korean companies and the Military Production Ministry.
Attending the meeting, Hong Jin-wook, South Korea’s ambassador in Egypt, hailed the remarkable activity of the Military Production Ministry in backing national and developmental projects in Egypt.
Jin-wook hailed the pivotal role Egypt plays in the Arab region and the Middle East as well as the state’s counterterrorism efforts and also its efforts to create a climate that attracts further investments from global companies.
