Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met on Thursday morning with a number of senior military commanders at the State Strategic Command Centre, Egypt’s Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement.
The meeting saw the attendance of Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Osama Askar, the presidential spokesman said.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of files and topics related to activities and efforts of the army in maintaining national security.
The meeting also addressed the latest developments at both the international and regional arenas, amid current challenges and circumstances in the region, according to Fahmy.
President El-Sisi commended painstaking efforts exerted by the Armed Forces and the important role they play in safeguarding the state's borders against any threat, in addition to their main contributions to boosting development efforts nationwide.
The meeting came after El-Sisi had an inspection tour at the Military Academy and a number of complexes at the State Strategic Command Centre in the New Administrative Capital, Fahmy said in a separate statement.
