As part of its efforts to localize the latest manufacturing technologies for various defence industries, the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), is exhibiting 45 diverse products at the third edition Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX), taking place in Cairo from 4-7 December.

The products, showcased at the AOI booth at Egypt’s pavilion in the exhibition, include ammunition, missiles, electronic equipment and aircraft, in addition to the latest six defence products the AOI manufactured.

Ahram Online zooms in on the latest AOI’s products exhibited at EDEX 2023:

Free-fall bombs

The Hafez family of air-dropped free-fall bombs weigh up to 2,000 pounds and can penetrate up to 180 cm of reinforced concrete.

These munitions were produced in cooperation with the Egyptian Air Force.

Multi-tasking control centre

A multi-tasking mobile automated command and control centre is responsible for controlling combat operations and securing the airspace, borders, and important installations.

The centre is 100 percent Egyptian-designed and manufactured.

Armoured riot control vehicle

The Qadir-1 armoured riot control vehicle can protect against gunfire from pistols and can resist rifle fire.

The vehicle was produced at the AOI’s factories for the Ministry of the Interior, but is customizable for different clients.

This is the first such vehicle manufactured domestically.

Device to counter drones

An electronic warfare system for detecting and countering drones was designed and manufactured in cooperation with the technical research crews of the Air Defense Command and the Electronic Warfare Department.

It can detect and counter drones to secure naval vessels at different ranges, along with reconnaissance devices and wireless interference devices in different frequency ranges.

Radiological detection

This device, the first of its kind of detecting and measuring radiation is the first of its kind. It is the result of cooperation between Chemical Warfare and the AOI.

Two models of this device have been produced: The first serves military applications while the second serves the civilian sectors for radiation detection of imports at ports, border crossings and airports.

Aircraft parts

Aircraft parts were also manufactured within the factories of the AOI for the French company Dassault.

One of these parts was presented by Dassault at the La Bourges exhibition in France.

The AOI said this step qualifies for entering the global supply chain system for the aircraft industry, expressing its willingness to cooperate with other international companies.
